Surf and Sand Resort Wedding Photography - Kelly and Dustin

This beautiful wedding was held at South Shores Church in Monarch Beach, and the Surf and Sand Resort in Laguna Beach.  Both locations were absolutely gorgeous and were perfect for taking lots of wedding photos.

Kelly and Dustin’s ceremony at South Shores Church was accompanied by live violin and cello music and the cocktail hour and reception that followed were hosted outdoors at the Surf and Sand Resort with a view of the ocean for their guests to enjoy.  You could hear the crashing of the waves below and even smell the ocean from where we were at.

I can’t say enough about how much I enjoyed working with Kelly and Dustin.  It was such a pleasure getting to know them and their families.  If you remember their engagement session earlier this year in Laguna Beach, it’s obvious that the beauty of the ocean is important to them.  And you can see how their wedding was influenced by it with their choice of colors, flowers and location at the Surf and Sand Resort.   And to top it all off they spent a week on the island of Kauai for their honeymoon.

Everything came together wonderfully on their wedding day thanks to an amazing wedding team:

My sister Lisa’s wedding.

This wedding was especially meaningful to me because Lisa and Mark are family.  I’m not going to lie, I got kind of emotional during their ceremony.  It was sort of a surreal moment for me to be simultaneously photographing and watching Lisa get married through the lens of my camera.  During the ceremony Lisa’s mother lit a candle in memory of Amanda, Lisa’s sister (and my wife) who battled cancer until 07/19/2005.  I know that she was there with us and shared in the celebration.  Lisa and Mark’s wedding was a beautiful and joyful celebration of love.  Love for eachother, family and friends.  And I feel lucky to have been a part of it in so many ways.

Crissy Field and Union Square Park Engagement Photography - Donnie and Maribel

I love San Francisco.  It’s seriously such a romantic city.  And this time was extra special because I was able to bring my wife Barbara with me too!  We had a great time wandering around the city with Donnie and Maribel taking photos all along the way.  We spent some time in Union Square Park, followed by the Yerba Buena Gardens and ended their engagement photography session at Crissy Field with the Golden Gate Bridge as a backdrop.  And afterward we all went out for Sushi and drinks at a really cool restaurant that Donnie recommended.

Palos Verdes Engagement Photography - Michelle and Philip

It was a beautiful 4th of July.  Michelle and Philip’s families were gathering together to celebrate at Philip’s parents home which is situated over Malaga Cove in Palos Verdes.  The view from the cliffside was absolutely breathtaking.  And the sky would be filled with a beautiful fireworks show later that evening.

I loved taking these photos.  The sky was decorated with clouds and the sun was peeking through them creating sparkling patches of sunlight on the ocean below.  It was seriously an amazing setting for Michelle and Philip’s engagement photos, and a perfectly beautiful representation of their happiness.

In this photo, Michelle and Philip were looking back to see the boat containing the fireworks that would be lighting up the sky later that evening for the enjoyment of both of their families.

Lantern Bay Park Wedding Photography - Diane and Brandon

Diane calls Brandon her lobster. If you’ve ever seen the episode of Friends when Phoebe insists that Rachel is Ross’ lobster … then you’ll understand why. You see lobsters are one of the only animals that mate for life. (female readers may now commence the ceremonial “AWWWWW!!”)

My favorite part of photographing Diane and Brandon was watching them interact. Actually to be more specific, my favorite part was watching Brandon watch Diane.  She has such a super bubbly personality and Brandon’s personality is the perfect compliment. And the way he looks at her…you know they were made for each other.  :)
