Disney Concert Hall Engagement Photography of Megan and Yaojen and their Audi R8

Megan and Yaojen are getting married in Maui next year and wanted to have engagement photos done. But not just any engagement photos…this was definitely one of the coolest engagement photography sessions I’ve done yet. We covered three different locations including the Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles.

They just recently purchased an Audi R8. Which for those of you who don’t know, the Audi R8 is an extremely exotic luxury sports car. Sweeeet! I’m a huge sports car fan, so when they asked me to incorporate the car into the photos I was elated! I suggested having photos done at the Disney Concert Hall because I felt the curved lines and metallic texture of the building would go well with the curved lines and metallic texture of the car. The Disney Concert Hall houses regular performances on the weekends, so I was a little concerned that there might be too many cars and people around, but it was actually pretty quiet. And the valet let us park the car right in front!

Santa Monica Beach Pier Engagement Photography - Megan and Yaojen

The 3rd location that I took them to was the Santa Monica Beach Pier. Since we had been cruising Los Angeles all day taking photos of them with their Audi R8, Megan wanted to make sure that we took some more traditional engagement photography at the beach to balance it out. The Santa Monica Beach Pier is great because it has such a huge variety of backdrops for photography. You can walk along the top of the pier with views of the ocean in the back and carnival rides and attractions surrounding, or you can go down to the sand and underneath the pier for some more secluded photography and great light!

Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden Engagement Photography at CSULB - Megan and Yaojen

Megan was wearing a traditional Chinese gown and wanted some engagement photography at a Japanese garden for a more natural look. The Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden is perfect for engagement photography so I decided to take them there. The Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden is a 1.3 acre natural outdoor garden with lush vegetation and is centered around a massive coy pond with a beautiful bridge. When walking around there you can easily forget that you’re on the campus of Cal State Long Beach.

We’re getting married!!!!

I’m getting married to my wonderful, beautiful, intelligent, artistic, kind, caring and nurturing fiance Barbara this weekend!!! I’m actually giddy right now! I have a billion butterflies in my stomach and just thinking about it makes me want to shout out with excitement at the top of my lungs, “woooooooooooohoooooooooooooo!!!!”

Since Barbara and I met in Spain (Espana - pronounced with a lisp;)) we wanted to take some of the culture of Spain and fuse it with our wedding. So we chose Casa Romantica in San Clemente because of its Mediterranean architecture and because it is on a cliff overlooking the ocean. And instead of having a traditional sit-down dinner following the ceremony, we decided to make it a more modern “loungy” type of experience with tray-passed tapas and sangria. One of Barbara’s passions is flamenco dancing which she has been doing for years. Recently she started getting private lessons from Yolanda Arroyo, a famous dancer from Barcelona Spain. So we asked Yolanda and her husband Paco to perform at our wedding and they said yes!! Yolanda will be dancing to Paco’s acoustic guitar for a 20 minute performance as entertainment for our guests. Our hope is that we’ve incorporated enough Spanish influence to our wedding that people will get a glimpse into the beauty of the place where Barbara and I met 3 years ago.

And then we’re off to Europe!! Our honeymoon will begin in Portugal at a boutique Art Deco hotel in the historic center of Lisbon. There we will let the stresses of our lives and wedding planning fade into the past as we savor our newly married status and soak up the Portuguese culture. I can’t wait! Five days later we’ll hop on a short flight to Barcelona, Spain where we have reservations at a luxury hotel located on Las Ramblas which is in the heart of Barcelona. After several days there we will take a train to Valencia where we will spend the remainder of our honeymoon. Ahhhh…so romantic! :)
