Sharon’s Maternity Photos

Have you ever heard of the pregnancy glow?  Some people think it’s an old wives tale, but I’ve always thought it was real.  I’ve noticed that most pregnant women have this radiant shine to them.  Apparently (according to several websites) it has an actual biological basis.  Something about pregnant women having more blood flow to the face “causing the cheeks to take on an attractive blush” yada yada yada.  I prefer to think of it as the baby’s joy emanating through them. :)

Anyhow a few weeks ago I had the honor of photographing Sharon’s maternity “glow.”  If you look at the photos you can actually see it!  It was my first maternity shoot ever!  And it was Sharon’s too, so we were a perfect match!  She did a wonderful job.  It was a really nice day so we decided to photograph her outside under the trees.  My wife, Barbara was there with us too!  I love bringing her along because people can’t help but smile when they are around her.

Taking Sharon’s maternity photos really got me thinking about babies. (Ooooo scary!!)  No but really, Barbara and I are probably going to start a family pretty soon.  We’re both intimidated with the thought and neither of us feel completely ready yet, but I think that you probably never feel ready, until you have them.  I think that’s how much of life is.  Whenever you’re trying something new there’s only so much you can do to prepare yourself.  Eventually you just have to jump in with an open mind and heart and learn as you go.  All I know is I can’t wait to see Barbara’s “glow” one day.

Oh and it’s a good thing we scheduled the photo shoot when we did, because Sharon’s baby entered the world only a few days later!  His name is Jaron (I think I mispelled it).  Hey that ryhmes with Aaron!  I like to think Sharon and her husband were trying to name their baby after their photographer….hehe

Here are a couple of my favorites photos.  Doesn’t she look beautiful!?

Claudia and Mike’s Family Photos

I had the pleasure of photographing Claudia and Mike and their two adorable dogs Parker and Prescott.  It was my first time photographing pets and owners together and I have to say it was a lot of fun.  Luckily Claudia and Mike decided to get to the park early that morning to tire them out a little before the photo shoot.  Great idea guys!  Parker and Prescott were both really well-behaved the whole time.  This was actually one of the most relaxing photo sessions I’ve ever had.  After it was over I couldn’t help but feel like all I had done was spend quality time with my friends and their dogs.   I left feeling really calm and happy.  I guess that’s the sign of good photo shoot!

Shelli, Bill, Brianna, Allysa and Nathan - Family Photos

Here is yet another beautiful family that I recently had the honor of photographing.  Aren’t they beautiful!  I had a wonderful time photographing them at Irvine Park a couple weeks ago just as the sun was setting.  Brianna wasn’t feeling well, but she pulled through like a trooper.  We were all very proud of her because she set a good example as a big sis to her younger sister Allysa and baby brother Nathan.  Allysa was so quiet, yet extremely professional. :)  She followed every instruction to the T.  Oh and you gotta love Nathan’s hat!!  I have one just like it…:)  But I have to say he looks much cuter in it than I do.

Debbie, Ron and Natalie - Family Portraits

It’s a special experience when I get to photograph a family.  I really enjoy it.  It’s difficult to pinpoint what it is that I like so much, but something about it makes me feel really happy.  It’s during those moments when my face is hidden behind my camera, and I’m looking at the family through my lens, that I pick up on subtle gestures, looks and expressions that hint at the bond that only they share.  I don’t want to get too mushy but it’s seriously beautiful.  It makes me love my family more and awakens that deep soulful yearning that I have to start my own family one day.

Here are some photos that I took of a beautiful family named, Debbie, Ron and Natalie.  Enjoy! :)

Photographing Tina Faris - THE BIG PICTURE - Episode 93

A few months ago I photographed Tina Faris in Old Town Orange, for her modeling portfolio. During the shoot we randomly ran into my friends Lan Bui and his wife Bonny. He had his camera with him so I asked if he would grab some video of me working. Here’s what he got. It’s cool when your best friend is a talented videographer.
